Network & Energy Performance Engineering Lead
Role Purpose
The Network & Energy Performance Engineering Lead is responsible for ensuring that the DRC network is observable, diagnosable, and technically understood, and that site energy systems are correctly designed, configured, and maintainable.
The role combines network performance visibility, structured root-cause engineering, and energy system integrity to reduce repeat incidents, prevent systemic degradation, and enable sustainable improvements in reliability and energy performance.
The position plays a key role in strengthening DRC Engineering self-sufficiency while leveraging broader technical expertise when required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Performance & Observability
- Own RMS as the primary source of engineering performance visibility
- Ensure RMS data integrity, coverage, and usability across the network
- Use analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) to identify trends, repeat incidents, and systemic risks
- Establish structured reporting that supports fact-based engineering decisions
2. Root-Cause Engineering
- Lead structured root-cause analysis of network and energy non-performance
- Classify issues by design, configuration, process, or external factors
- Define targeted engineering corrective actions and track implementation to closure
- Drive sustainable reduction of repeat incidents through systemic solutions
3. Energy System Integrity
- Enforce approved energy system designs and configuration standards
- Review and approve site-specific energy solutions based on technical suitability and ROI
- Ensure energy systems are observable and diagnosable through RMS and supporting data
- Identify and address recurring energy-related technical issues.
4. Technical Escalation & Knowledge Integration
- Escalate complex or systemic technical challenges through structured problem statements when required
- Integrate external or Group technical guidance into locally practical solutions
- Ensure DRC Engineering progressively builds internal capability to resolve recurring issues independently
5. Continuous Improvement
- Feed performance and energy learnings back into engineering standards and specifications
- Support Operations and Partners with technically sound guidance (without owning execution)
- Promote data-driven decision-making within the Engineering function
Performance Measures
The role will be assessed against defined annual targets in the following areas:
- Network observability and RMS coverage
- Root-cause classification effectiveness
- Corrective action implementation and closure
- Reduction in repeat network and energy incidents
- Compliance with approved energy system standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in Electrical, Power, Telecoms, or related Engineering discipline
- Strong experience in network reliability, performance engineering, or energy systems
- Proven root-cause analysis and system-level troubleshooting capability
- Experience working with monitoring systems and analytics tools
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Experience in complex or emerging market environments preferred
- Power BI is a plus.
Language Requirements
- Professional working proficiency in English and French (spoken and written) is required.
