Overview
As an National Logistics Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of telecom infrastructure materials, equipment, and supplies across the Democratic Republic of Congo. Working closely with internal teams, transport partners, and project stakeholders, you will coordinate end-to-end National Logistics operations (Dispatch - Transport - Receipt at Destination) to support network rollout, maintenance, and operational activities.
Operating in one of Africa's most challenging logistics environments, you will ensure materials are delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with company procedures, while proactively managing transport risks, route constraints, customs requirements, and operational disruptions. Your contribution will directly support project delivery, operational continuity, and cost-efficient logistics execution.
Role Responsibilities
As National Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and coordinating the transportation of telecom infrastructure materials, equipment, spare parts, and site supplies from warehouses, ports, suppliers, and logistics hubs to project sites across the DRC.
- Selecting the most appropriate transport solutions—including trucks, low-bed trailers, boats, and alternative transport methods—based on cargo requirements, site accessibility, and operational priorities.
- Monitoring shipment movements from dispatch to delivery, maintaining regular communication with transporters, warehouse teams, contractors, clearing agents, and project teams to ensure timely execution.
- Assessing transport routes by evaluating road conditions, weather impacts, bridge limitations, security risks, and accessibility constraints while identifying contingency solutions to minimise delivery disruptions.
- Coordinating telecom project deliveries in line with rollout schedules, maintenance activities, and emergency operational requirements, ensuring materials arrive at site when required.
- Verifying that all dispatched materials match approved bills of quantities, packing lists, delivery notes, and asset transfer documentation while ensuring proof of delivery is accurately completed and returned.
- Ensuring compliance with customs procedures, transport regulations, company policies, and client requirements by maintaining complete and accurate logistics documentation for every shipment.
- Coordinating warehouse dispatch activities by validating picking, packing, labelling, loading plans, vehicle capacity, weight distribution, and the safe handling of high-value telecom equipment.
- Supervising transport providers and logistics contractors by monitoring service quality, delivery performance, safety compliance, and adherence to agreed timelines while resolving delivery issues and recommending continuous improvements.
- Controlling inland logistics costs by evaluating transport quotations, monitoring operational expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and reducing unnecessary costs arising from delays, idle resources, or documentation errors.
- Protecting company assets by promoting safe transport practices, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and security requirements, and supporting investigations into damaged, lost, or stolen materials.
- Preparing logistics reports, shipment trackers, transporter performance reviews, and operational dashboards while communicating risks, delays, and corrective actions to management and project stakeholders.
Requirements for the Role
To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in inland logistics, transport coordination, warehouse dispatch, or project logistics.
- Experience within telecom, infrastructure, construction, mining, energy, or engineering sectors will be highly advantageous.
- Good knowledge of DRC transport corridors, provincial routes, customs procedures, and the operational challenges associated with inland logistics.
- Experience coordinating transporters, clearing agents, subcontractors, warehouses, and field teams.
- Strong understanding of transport planning, dispatch operations, inventory movement, and project logistics coordination.
- Experience working within fast-paced, operationally demanding environments where priorities frequently change.
