Overview

As a Management Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the Company's financial records while providing insightful financial information that supports operational and strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing management reports, overseeing balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring operational expenditure, and supporting statutory and management reporting in accordance with IFRS, OHADA, and company policies.

Working closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Projects, and the Centralised Back Office (CBO), you will help strengthen financial controls, improve business performance, and ensure accurate reporting across fixed assets, inventory, project costs, and operational expenditure.


Role Responsibilities

As Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate accounting records, journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close activities in accordance with IFRS, OHADA, and company policies.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reporting packs that support business decision-making.
  • Reviewing general ledger postings and ensuring financial transactions are complete, accurate, and appropriately supported.
  • Monitoring operational expenditure (OPEX), analysing cost trends, identifying variances against budget, and recommending corrective actions to improve cost control.
  • Supporting the capitalisation of project costs and fixed assets by coordinating with Projects, Operations, Supply Chain, and the Centralised Back Office to ensure timely and accurate asset recognition.
  • Managing fixed asset accounting processes, including work-in-progress tracking, capitalisation, depreciation, reconciliations, and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Coordinating inventory accounting activities by supporting stock reconciliations, inventory controls, and ensuring compliance with inventory management standards.
  • Providing financial analysis and business insights by interpreting financial data, explaining key performance indicators, and supporting non-financial managers with informed recommendations.
  • Collaborating with internal and external auditors by preparing supporting schedules, responding to audit queries, and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal control requirements.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing financial processes, reporting quality, internal controls, and operational efficiency across the Finance function.
  • Building effective working relationships with internal stakeholders while providing professional financial advice and supporting informed business decisions.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards, governance requirements, and applicable financial regulations.

Requirements for the Role

To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ACA, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4–7 years' experience in management accounting, financial reporting, or financial control.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and OHADA accounting standards.
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting, inventory management, and project cost accounting.
  • Good understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA or similar financial systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial audiences.
