Overview

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Legal will play a pivotal role in leading the legal function within the operating company. You will act as the principal legal advisor, ensuring legal risk is minimised while supporting strategic decision-making and business growth. You will also act as Company Secretary and lead the legal team.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

As Head of Legal, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the design and implementation of the company’s legal strategy and governance framework
  • Advising senior leadership on legal, regulatory and compliance matters
  • Managing and mitigating legal risks across all business activities
  • Overseeing contract drafting, review and negotiation, including complex and sensitive agreements
  • Supervising litigation, disputes and relationships with external legal counsel
  • Acting as Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with statutory and corporate governance requirements
  • Managing stakeholder relationships with regulators, investors, banks and public institutions
  • Supporting site acquisition activities, including lease approvals and regulatory compliance
  • Providing legal support to HR, tax and other internal functions
  • Leading, developing and managing the legal team

 

Requirements for the Role

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with a relevant legal degree
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Proven experience leading legal teams within an in-house environment
  • Experience within a listed company (FTSE 250 or equivalent)
  • Strong regulatory and compliance experience
  • Expertise in corporate and commercial law, M&A and financial transactions
  • Experience working across international or multi-market environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and drafting capabilities
  • Telecoms industry experience is advantageous

 

Desired Skills

  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, risk and compliance
  • Experience in litigation and dispute management
  • Ability to manage complex projects and drive results
  • High level of commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Fluency in French and English is desirable
