Purpose of the Job

The Senior Accountant ensures:

 

• Accurate and timely financial reporting
• Compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements
• Strong internal controls and risk mitigation
• Financial support to operational and commercial teams
• Reliable data for strategic decision-making

 

Job specifications

 

Education


• Master’s degree in accounting & finance or related subjects and a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA

 

Work Experience


• Experience in an audit firm followed by experience in a corporate environment
• The ideal candidate should have 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting

 

Any other Specifications


• Experience in an international company or structured group with established reporting and internal control processes.

• Ability to work autonomously in managing accounting tasks

Key job responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Provide clear and insightful analysis of financial variances and key performance drivers.
  • Strengthen internal controls and enhance finance processes to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with Finance, Operations, and the Chief Business Officer (CBO) to support business objectives.
  • Prepare and review journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with lease agreements, co-location arrangements, and contractual escalations.
  • Manage tower asset capitalization in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Monitor and track capital expenditures (Capex) to ensure proper allocation and reporting.

 

Person Specification 

 

• Strong understanding of monthly and annual closing processes
• Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations
• Management and monitoring of CAPEX projects, including reconciliation between OHADA and IFRS accounting treatments
• Participation in the budget and forecast processes
• Monitoring and analysis of operational costs to identify potential optimization opportunities
• Good knowledge of IFRS standards and the OHADA accounting framework
• Experience in the preparation and support of external audits
• Strong Excel skills and experience with SAP
